Food is Mood
Sudbury
Northern Initiative for Social Action (NISA) developed and hosts a food preparation program called Food is Mood. This nutrition-based program focuses on cooking healthy, budget-friendly meals and on the nutritional benefits of various ingredients. The Food is Mood program is partially funded (food and facilitator costs) by the Northeast LHIN through Living Healthy Northeast.
Meeting on a weekly basis, NISA members enjoy the social connection of cooking together in the community kitchen as well as being able to eat the meal together. The aim is to provide opportunities to develop basic cooking skills that include food selection and preparation while maintaining a healthy and balanced diet.
Located in downtown Sudbury, NISA services consumers/survivors - anyone who has used or is using mental health services, or self-identifies as having lived experience of mental illness.
